The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
